How often should the power steering fluid be changed? I have a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan.

Just my opinion, but if it stays pink and clean, I’d let it go until the system otherwise needs service.

I have a Camry that has bunch of miles on it. Its had its power steering fluid changed once. Its uses Dextron and the fluid still looked red when I changed it. Hope that helps in Revealing some of your worry.

              Looks more brown than pink.

Most vehicles use ATF but some use hydraulic fluid. Hydraulic fluid is brown. Check your owners manual or maybe there is a sticker under the hood. If it started out pink and now is brown, yeah, time to change.

It uses ATF, I checked. It’s just too bad I can’t find out what the fluid capacity is.
