was the noise there before the belt change? If not it could be_x000D_
the belt compound from the belt you used. If the tension is_x000D_

If the noise was not there before you changed the belt then I would say it has something to do with the belt or belt tension.

Have you checked that the fluid level is correct?

I everything was quiet before you changed the belt i would also say that you might need a different belt, or the belt isn’t tight enough. I know on my truck to increase tension there is a screw that you tighten on the tensioner. ( if it isn’t auto.) If it

                        Hi Eric and all,_x000D_

I tried everything. I’ve changed the belt, tried different tension, and I tried conditioner again. My car does not come with an auto tensioner.

You can run it without the belt but I’m beginning to suspect like you that perhaps there’s a problem with the power steering rack.

I had the exact same problem with my car. I have a 2004 Hyundai Accent 1.6L 5 speed. I did the timing belt service and decided to change all my belts while I had easy access. Later on, I experienced the squeal during cold startup and when the wheel was tu

Also, i would squeeze the bellows on the P/S rack to see if there full of fluid.

Come to think of it it could also be the harmonic balancer.

Hello all, I just wanted to let you all know that the noise has stopped. I had two problems. The first was the tension on the alternator was not tight enough, so I tighten that, and that stopped the first noise I heard when I first started my car in the AM. The second was the power steering belt type was wrong. The belt that I needed was a V-belt and the onew they gave me was something different. I don’t know what type of belt it’s called but I have a picture of it here. Once I changed it to the correct belt the noise stopped. Both belts are the same link it was just the difference in appearance.
