Removed p/s pump to get access. Before putting it back together tried the various bolts in the OEM puller kit, looked like small threads fit.

Installed pump, tried to thread in the center bolt and it could not get purchase. I could wiggle it in and then wiggle it out, after threading it in.

So used the thicker bolt and got a few threads to bite so started installing the pull. Got about 2/3rds installed and center bolt pulled out.

Now what? How do I get pulley back on shaft?

Looks like the kit didn’t have the right bolt. Metric for a standard thread or vice versa.
Now, all depends on how much thread is left inside the p/s pump shaft.
You can try buying another bolt and see if it will thread in firmly.
If so, but it doesn’t thread into the tool, you can buy a nut that fits and bunch of washers (same diameter as pulley flange).
Thread the nut onto the bolt, put the pile of washers beneath it and use it instead of the tool.

            Thanks again Bonnieman!

I finally got it! Following your suggestion, found another bolt that was the same threads AND bought a tap. Ran the threads with the tap – it wasn’t too hard, but 20-some years of weathering, it needed to be done. Then was able to run the NEW bolt, (but the old one wouldn’t work) , into the PS pump shaft and get the pulley properly seated!

These seemingly “simple” suggestions are what gets me every time. It’s just being without experience that I get stuck. Always humbles me a bunch and gives me great respect for the guys & gals that do this for a living and have acquired real knowledge!
