Power steering problem

      My 97 oldsmobile 88 has a steering problem has fluid in it and still making noise like the fluid is low but it’s not could my pump is bad of failing

        it could be. does the noise get louder under load as in when turning the wheels lock to lock? or does it get worse when the engine revs to a higher rpm?

        if it gets worse while turning i would look at the pump, make sure no air is in the lines (you can tell by there being froth in the resevoir) or the rack and pinion if you have one. if it gets worse when reving check pulleys.

          Yes it does it at high rpm and when I’m making a turn or taking off

            have you tried bleeding it? to see if that helps any…

            Although its not a fix-all, it will help you get a better idea of how much fluid is actually in the power steering system, and if it was low due to air being trapped in the system then most likely the noise would go away unless there was an actual issue with one of the components, like those that Lord lhcalam has suggested.

              Got the problem corrected but I’ve had to put fluid in it lately

                So you topped off the fluid and the problem has gone away?

                  Yea ima inspect the pump to make sure there are no leaks
