Hi everyone. just got a 4wd 1999 jeep grand cherokee with the 4.7L V8 engine, power steering cap says to use power steering fluid but i just changed the power steering pressure line and filled it with atf +4 with no problems so far. Is this bad in the long run? Its my daily driver. Thanks

ATF +4 is the proper fluid for that application.

Check what the manufacturer recommends. Using ATF may damage your P/S.

MOPAR likes to use ATF in the power steering, as well as transfer cases. My Dakota is the same way, ATF+4 is the MOPAR fluid for sure.

Always use what the manual(owners or service) states
