power door lock entrapment

I am new to car power door locks. Entrapment due to immersion in water, accident disrupting battery power and stalling are a few scenarios I have heard about. I am having trouble rationalizing the convenience of power door locks vs. this entrapment issue. Any comments?

There is usually a manual override to that power lock that is physically connected to the lock mechanism. I don’t know if every car has but every one of my cars had it.
