I saw eric had a section on the facebook page posting his cars he’s owned, i figured this might be a good place for the community to post theirs! with pictures and maybe a story?

      Here’s my first car.
a 1998 5 speed dodge dakota 3.9L, had about 180k miles on it when i got it. I worked my ass off for a while to buy this, it was only $1000, but as a 16 year old kid, was a bit hard for me to get that money, ended up working as a janitor to get it, but this truck ran like hell. we drove it from where i love (reynoldsburg,oh) to Pittsburgh and surrounding area’s multiple times, each time, hauling something and never had a problem, very powerful engine, and i loved this truck, i eventually had to sell it, just wasn’t the right car for where i live in deep snow, but i put about 200$ into it, and i sold it for 1600$ so it worked out.

And here is my current car.
a 1988 buick riviera 3.8 automatic, currently sitting at 110k miles even, I’m currently only 19 years old, this car was given to me actually, from my step dad when i graduated high school, although back then it was just a piece of metal, or so we thought, a elderly woman passed away near our old neighborhood and her children were selling this car for 1000%, but they didn’t know if it ran, and didn’t want to try because it had been sitting for a year or 2, my step dad talked them down, he payed 500$ for this car, we got it home and it sat in the garage for a good 5 months, because he had no money to work on it, finally graduation came around and he handed me the title and keys, and i sat thinking..(i know this was probably very dumb) but i said fuck it..we’re gonna try to start it, so we went out, i cleaned out the fuel injectors, swapped the fuel filter, put a battery in it, and it started right up perfectly. no problems whatsoever, i was very happy, all and all i haven’t even put that much money into this car, i replaced the 2 rear struts(the flat bed that delivered it to our house actually snapped them from dropping the car..) put new plugs and wires, few other things, nothing really major at all, and it ran perfect for a while, i drove this back and forth to work everyday for about 7 months, and i took it on a trip to pittsburgh in this passed december, got there and parked in my friends driveway and the engine just cut off…being far from home i was at a loss and very stressed, so i got it towed to a garage, i only had about 250$ in my pocket then, the guy said he needed to replace the crankshaft sensor, charged about 200$, and used my 50$ to tow it there, so im broke now! but it made it home, RECENTLY if you see my other topic posted here, it’s stalling and stuttering, and i’m almost positive it’s the camshaft sensor magnet, but i’ll have to wait until i get this new job i’m going to take it for an inspection just to be sure before taking the timing cover off, but other than a few bumps, this car has ran like a gem, and i’m very grateful for having this car.

Sorry the text is so long! i might have got carried away on details, but let us see your first cars! pictures and a story would be awesome to go along with it!

Nice, and sorry about you having a few issues with your current ride…I will post pictures of my first car asap since I am still busy with school. I will have more time this weekend. But what I got on last monday as my first car is a 95 Subaru Legacy L Station wagon with 183k original miles. I have been driving it around since I got it and I have fallen in love with the thing…I only paid 1800 for it and to me it’s a sweet little GEM! Only issue with it right now is more of an annoyance but the ABS light stays on all the time. I have not had any time to get to an auto parts store to plug in a scanner to find out if it’s just a computer malfuction or if its somthing I have to look further into. But I will find out. So far, everything works that is mandatory on it and it’s in really good shape. Engine feels and sounds strong, no ticks of any kind, AC and Heat work, it’s a 5 speed manual and gear changes (aside from my screw ups) are butter smooth. Clutch is really good too. I will however when I get a bit more money coming in get it tuned up to put my mind at ease about the milage and get new tires for it. I will post pics of it hopfully tomorrow after school.

Well, my first car was a pickup truck, i love trucks, anyway it was a 94 Chevy half ton, two wheel drive work truck trim. It was a weird color, called teal green metallic or something like that. It had just under 246k when i bought it and paid 500 bucks for it. it was good enough to get me to high school and back everyday. Had some running issues that i never did figure out but it lived with me through high school, made it through a crash and when i sold it it had 253k on it. My uncle killed the tranny in it but he didnt want to fix it so it went to a junk yard 🙁 i wish i wasnt a broke college student at the time or i would have bought it back and turned it into a autocross truck or something. I am still a broke college student rolling around in my 96 Dakota. of the two i would rather have the dakota just because its been more reliable.

The photo shows the 94 half ton. behind it was my chevy minivan i bought before selling the pickup, big mistake that was, cool to have though!

My first car was beautiful. 1978 Ford Fiesta. Really wish I could find another one. Ended up having to sell it when some dink decided to smash every piece of glass in the car including light lenses and even the dash cluster. I was really broke before that so paying for all that was not an option. Had too much fun with the car. The 5.0 mustangs were just coming out at the time and used to whip them every time in the 8th. Probably one of them found me and smashed it. If any of you knows where there is a north american Fiesta let me know.

First car was a 1997 honda accord v6 fully loaded my dad paid 400 bucks for it for a parts car and didnt even know it was a v6 til I spotted the badge when he brought it home. He said I could have it for graduating high school but I had to fix it up. I put new brakes all around 2 wheelbearings new exhaust replaced timing and balancer belts new plugs wires cap and rotor and valve cover gaskets and drove it for 3+ years that car got me thru high school, college and I proposed to my wife in it lol. I would say that car was what got me interested in mechanic work and I learned a lot of my skills working on it with my dad. Makes me wish I had never sold it now lol. But isnt that what your first car is about? Memories and milestones achieved made possible by the freedom of your first car…

My first car was a truck. 1972 F250, but the title and VIN said it was a 1973. Didn’t know much about cars/trucks then, so didn’t figure out it was actually a 1972 until after I sold it.

My first car was a 1984 Ford Ranger XL 4×2, 2.8L V6, 3 speed automatic. Drove that until about 8 years ago because at that time I didn’t know therangerstation.com site existed or I could have found a simple fix for the issues I was continually having with it. I sold it, and wish i didn’t now. The body was in excellent condition no dents, scratches, interior was in excellent condition except for the standard cracks in the dash which must have been normal because the 1984 Ford Bronco 2 I have now has the same cracks. I bought the Ranger from my grandparents for $1. At that time it was leaking oil from every place imaginable, but considering it pulled a 16′ travel trailer all over the country after my grandfather retired, it did pretty well. I spent about $800 having the seals and gaskets replaced at the local ford garage which is where my problems started they broke a mount off the carburetor, and that’s when my engine problems started, they never really fixed the engine operation problems after that even after 3 carburetors, then turns out about a year ago I found out what was wrong, I spent over $1200 in carburetors, sensors, parts, etc. just to find out on another forum that the computer was causing the problems. Well needless to say the computer in the Bronco 2 was bypassed pretty quick. I just picked up the Bronco 2 about 3 months ago, it needs a lot of exterior body work on the passenger side from rust, but other than some minor engine tuning and fixes it runs and drives awesome for being 29 years old.

1984 Ford Ranger: (unfortunately this is the only picture I’ve been able to find of it)
