Possible AC compressor problem.

I have a 1988 Honda prelude si 4ws with 5 speed manual trans. I replaced the ENTIRE ac system last summer and it has worked great until recently. When I cut the ac on the clutch engages but I get no cold air. It is filled with the correct amount of R-12. BUT when I turn on the ac I hear a noise. It stops when I cut the ac off. I think it is the compressor bearing or the compressor itself. If anyone has any thoughts or have had any similar problems please give me an idea of what to try first. I am (at this point)thinking the compressor has to be replaced. Please let me know. Thanks Matt

If the clutch does engage.You will need to hook up
a set of manifold gauges to see what internal pressures
are doing.
