I have a 2000 jeep Cherokee right hand drive that makes a popping sound from right and left sides with the right side being the loudest. The jeep has all new shocks, upper and lower control arm bushings and new engine mounts. All bolts and nuts seem to be tight, but sound is intermittent mostly pronounced when turning right, but also going straight or turning left. The vehicle makes sound in forward or reverse.

maybe ball joints? can you duplicate it by bouncing the truck up and down? if yes then have an assistant bounce it and try to feel the noise. put ur hand on various components and you’ll be able to feel the pop on the faulty component.

Derby crazy thanks for the info on what to check next and how to check it. I performed the said check and there is no indication of it being a ball joint. Now that being said I stated my noise incorrectly by saying that it was a “popping” sound. The sound is more of a thud as if someone were hitting the floorboard of vehicle with a rubber mallet. The sound is loud enough to hear with ease, but not a popping sound as much of a thud sound. I have heard this sound before on another vehicle I was working on only to find the lower control arm bushings busted and a couple bad engine mounts. So if you have anymore suggestions of where to look they would be very much appreciated. Along with any suggestions from anyone else on forum

Thanks to everyone who replied to help me find my noise. With that being said the noise source has been found and corrected. I hope this post will help someone else in the future, so here goes. The noise was coming from a bracket that is mounted near steering gearbox and body and frame of vehicle. The said bracket has two bolts that hold bracket to body and frame one of the bolts in the bracket had a crack underneath head of bolt (about half diameter of bolt cracked into). Even though bolt was tight it allowed movement thus causing popping/ thud sound in driver side floor pan. Cracked bolt was replaced and popping/thud sound issue has been fixed.
