Hello I’ve been having issues with my 1998 Honda Civic(200,xxx Mi) Lx sedan recently. Recently the cars mpg began to decrease from 30-32mpg avg down to 20-22 mpg. My car has begun to perform poorly it idles fine, but my acceleration is greatly decreased. It seems like it doesn’t begin to really accelerate until around 3-4k rpm range.
A week ago today I had the distributor replaced in the car after it failed to start. The mechanic I went to for the distributor told me they believed it was the catalytic converter clogging up, and until it was replaced I would have the loss of power. I’m going to do the replacement myself, and I was looking for some insight on what else should be checked or could possibly cause these symptoms.
My car has been slowly leaking radiator fluid from the overflow tank for months about every 2 times I fill up I top the overflow off
Tires are fairly new.
Oil and automatic transmission fluid changed regularly
Air filter and fuel filter recently changed.
