It stated about a few weeks ago. Basically the car trys to idle but is very rough. When you hit the gas the car stumbles to raise RPM. when i rev the RPM up above 4k and then let it drop back to idle the problem fixed it self. I drove it for a week no problems, Then when i was on the free way going 80 the car started to decelerate. I pushed the pedal down all the way but the car kept decreasing in speed. i got off the free way and in to a parking lot. The idle was messed up again, kinda as if it was trying to stay on. I turned the car off and then back on and it was fine. I drove out of the parking lot but as i was hitting the gas it started doing it again and the car wouldn’t accelerate. I parked it, had it towed home and from there i checked the everything i could from spark plugs to leaks. i coudnt find anything. I started the car and it worked fine…. i used it for 1 week then i started it this morning and it was doing the rough idle again. i tried to go but it would stumble. I though it might be a clogged fuel filter. so i changed that out.. did not make a difference. I checked the computer for codes.. none. I then just started cleaning everything under the hood. When i got to the cam sensor i noticed it had oil and dirt all over it. I cleaned it out started the car works again.. I drove around no problems. As of right now im waiting for the car to cool down and then start it again. Dose anyone have any advice on what the heck is going on?????

      Things i have done:
      1. new spark plugs
      2. new EGR the one that was on it was broken so i replaced it.
      3. new air filter
      4. new fuel filter
      5. oil change/ tune up
      6. I tested the spark on the coil pack, each one sends out a spark.

Cam sensors on those cars (I have one) are known to leak internally after a period of time. Replace it if you saw oil all over the place.
If you don’t see any issues after driving around at higher RPM (like 4k+ for a week or so should be fixed)
I replaced mine 3x now, had it for 10+ years. Every so often it will just start leaking.

I want to let everyone know that i have found the problem!!!! I dropped the gas tank and found that the sock has completely dissolved. The pump was so clogged that the connector started to burn up. What was left of the filter looked like a fish tank filter! There was parts of the sock all over the bottom of the tank. I’m 99.9% sure this is my problem that ive been having.
