Hi.
I have fair car knowledge.
My automatic Dodge Neon 04 has gone through two repairs of transmission fluid mixing with coolant and spreading into both the tranny and the engine cooling system, once four years ago and again more recently. After replacing the radiator and flushing both systems out again, the car was working fine, bit I noticed two things:
1) the shifter was harder to move up and down, to the point that the plastic clip popped out at one point and wouldn’t move out of drive anymore as of last week.
2) when I would reverse, the tranny would make loud noises, but would work fine.
-So I checked the shifter inside the car, as well as the cable to see if it was working, and both are working fine.
-Then I checked, where the cable attaches to the transmission and it was super stiff and barely movable. Is this normal?Does this spell the end of my Dodge Neon or is there anything I can do? Tranny seemed to be working fine in all gears till then. Please help! Thank you.
