      i want to make some simple modifications too my cars engine… i don’t want too get over zealous with the modifications, but i like making my cars, not stock

      i want to add a K&N cold air intake, i have noted on hot days according to my scan tool intake air reaches temperatures exceeding 100 degrees… i am sure this is not benefitial too performance as well as all the bends and twists my stock intake makes i am sure adds some restriction… sort of a custom made intake is what i have planned, the intake will still feed air from the fender, but rather than going through a bunch of bends the piping will be more direct allowing freeier flow.

      i would also like too swap parts from a L-67 engine… i don’t want the supercharged engine beacuse it would require 93 Octane Gasoline, but i want too add a L-67 throttle body and L-67 fuel injectors as well as high performance ignition coils and plug wires, i would also like too get my PCM flash tuned, if possible. since the intake takes air from the inside of the drivers side fender, i would like too remove the fog lights from the bumper since they no loner work, and run some custom made ducting from the bumper up too that fender with some vents in the fender too feed condensed cool air into the fender… i will cover up the vents in the fender with those plastic accents you can get at parts stores and open them up so they actually look like vents… in the future i would like too get some of those high performance aluminom rockers and high performance push rods too free up the valvetrain.

      my only concern is that with the larger L-67 fuel injectors will it cause my car too run rich… my hope is since they are only slightly larger, that they will act with the slightly larger throttle body from the L-67 Engine too give me more power with the pedal down.

        I really don’t think the air intake plans you have will help anything. I’ve seen side by side comparisons and changing the air intake did not make a measurable difference. If you use bigger injectors you will run rich unless the PCM is reprogrammed to inject less fuel. Therefore, the bigger injectors will not give a benefit unless you add forced induction to bring in more air.

        I’m thinking a complete change of plans would bring more benefit. Headers and a free flowing exhaust pipes will allow more timing advance. A bigger cam will increase power, but this is a commitment to a lot of work to install. Both of these will require a PCM retune.

        Installing new plugs, wires, and coils will help if the old parts are worn. However, these cars came with a very effecient ignition system that does the job quite well. Spending money on “High Performance” brands will just be money that you don’t have anymore.

        The L67 engine is a very good engine. I have one with 134000 miles and it still runs strong and clean. Although it requires a little more money at the pump, it makes up for it withd 35mpg on the highway. But, the choice is yours.
