After doing some work on my engine 3.8 ecotec, I started to have a problem after i cleaned my pcv valve. When the car is left for say 30 minutes after driving and heatsoak takes affect It will have a rough idle for say 3 seconds when started again, if started again directly after its perfect.. I took the inlet off again and notice there was oil around and above the small o-ring that goes around the pcv valve Could a faulty o-ring be causing this problem by not sealing? Well the oil does not look good where it is.. Here is a pic to explain where the oil is getting too.

188.000 K so about 116.000 miles, It did rattle when i took it out but that still doesn’t mean anything it could be getting stuck due to the leaking o-ring I have bought a genuine part which didn’t come with a o-ring but i bought a box of o-rings and found one that is a tight fit So hopefully this will be the fix 🙂
replace the pcv valve don’t clean. if the pcv valve is not snug in the O ring than replace it. it looks like the pcv was not venting.

How many miles are on the engine?
And +1 on the PCV valve. I would replace it with an OEM unit.
