I was noticing there’s some good stuff in the pattern failure section of this forum. Anyway, I was thinking if you should run out of ideas for repair videos that fixing some of these pattern failures would be a big help to owners.

You’ve indicated that you can only work on what comes through your doors. But what if you struck a deal with some used car lot? Pick a car off the lot and do the pattern failure repair, the car doesn’t have to be broken. Yeah, there is the expense, but select jobs where the parts are inexpensive.

Trust me, there’s plenty to cover and I doubt I’ll be running out of ideas anytime soon. Unless vehicles stop breaking or needing service. I do try and cover the pattern failures when they do come in. I’ll see what I can do to incorporate more in the future.

Believe me, it’s much easier to say I should do more ‘outside’ work than it is in practice. You need to keep in mind that I have a lot of work outside of the shop these days and when a ‘customer’ vehicle comes in and I have issues with either getting parts or some other problem that causes me to have to keep the vehicle for a few days, it can make things difficult for both me and the ‘customer’. That’s the reason why I moved toward the ‘production car’ model (meaning purchasing vehicles that I use in my videos such as the Vigor and the Fairmont) for making videos last year. This way if there are issues when doing a repair or making a video, I don’t have the added stress of keeping something for a week until I can get a chance to work on it again.

        Thanks for the suggestion.

I was trying to make your channel even more popular. Perhaps in the future you might consider some vehicles more mainstream than what’s in your current fleet. The most common vehicles on American roads are the Ford F series, followed by the Camry, Accord and the Silverado.

There’s a lot more to what I do than just my videos, and there’s also a lot more to making the videos I make than the vehicles I use in them. In the past year I’ve been doing a lot of behind the scenes work to make ETCG even better going forward. In the coming year I plan to incorporate more vehicles into my videos. In fact, I’ve already started. Please be patient. Also, realize that in the past year I’ve produced over 100 videos and will have more than 150 by the end of the year. How many television programs can claim that for a year? They do 26 episodes at best. It’s very easy to say ‘do more videos on more vehicles’, it’s quite another thing in practice.

            Thanks for your understanding.
