Looking for solutions to the passive security issue with the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. Don’t want to have to splice in wires / resistors as I have seen done on YouTube videos but can’t keep waiting 10 min every time the security light starts blinking.

Your only option for long term effectiveness is the bypass. You could spend the 300 or so dollars to redo the ignition but it’d have problems down the road again. I’ve done numerous of these early 2000’s late 90’s gm cars for exact same problem. It is well known and it is a pain. Just spend the time and bypass it.

Listen to Rattman on this one. I have an 03 Chevy Malibu and I dropped about 1200.00 back in 2011 on it (Bypass wasn’t nearly as well known back then). Less than a year later, just as Rattman says, it came back and I dropped another 300 on it. Finally once the issue was much more well known, the bypass was put in place in late 2012 and haven’t had an issue since.

            Best Regards,
            Ryan
