      Hi,

i have a 2006 Mazda 2 with about 170k km on it. Issue is as such. I have a in car camera that runs even though the engine is off. It has a power saver mode which shuts off itself when it goes below a certain voltage.

These few days, i had very weak cranks in the morning and also found that the in car cam was off, meaning the batt was below voltage. The battery was about 1.5 years old. I changed it without second thought. So now i have a new battery but still having the same issue. I DC the car cam thinking it was the source of amp draw, still having the same issue.

Today, i did a parasitic draw test. With all fuses in tact, it was showing about 0.08A. When i removed the BTN 25A fuse, it dropped to 0.02A. I referred to the manual and the description was ” Protection for various circuits” . I am stuck now, what should i do next? The fuse looks ok. I’m tempted to remove the fuse every night and replace it every morning so i don’t have to deal weak cranks.

Any ideas? What does this fuse do? Should i remove it every night? Please help.

You did disable the car cam and are sill high in amps? If the car
has an alarm this may be your source of draw. you would need to find
whats on that circuit. A wiring diagram will be needed.

Highly suspect its a bad battery. Managed to bring down the parasitic amp draw to 0.02A last night and this morning car couldn’t start again. Just changed the battery in October this year. Going to claim the warranty for the battery.

I’ve gotten the battery replaced. Lets hope for the best. May i ask this here? Are frequent start, stop of engine bad for battery? Sometimes i drive very short distances, lesser than 5 minutes to pickup stuff on daily basis. I’ve heard that the battery does not have sufficient time to charge up before then the next crank and could be bad for the battery? How true is this?
