I’d use them as-is, I mean, it’s not meant to be a show piece. Mine get used a lot, they get scratched while in use, they get knocked over, dragged around, etc. so I don’t think it would be worth the effort to paint them.

I’ve noticed a lot of their stuff going down hill in quality – there was another discussion regarding tool storage and i posted about the difference between the roll-away tool chest I bought about 15 years ago and one I bought this year (even though this new one is supposed to be better with things like ball bearing slides, etc.) is night and day. It’s too bad, I think people still appreciate quality even if it costs a little more.

Just use them as is. Put some dirty finger prints on them and cover those spots right up.C8-)

Nope, I am not planning on repainting the whole jack stands. Just the area that are showing Steel? Wouldn’t it rust if I leave it as it is?

For the couple minutes it would take to paint ’em go ahead I paint mine every few years when I’ve got some left over paint from some project I think they were originally blue. They’re black now. May be red next time who knows

I totally agree. Ever since they moved the manufacturing to China, the Craftsman brand is selling some absolutely TERRIBLE stuff. Also, I’ve noticed that some of their USA-built stuff has taken a nosedive as of late. I’m starting to move to Armstrong, Proto, Blackhawk and Wright for my tool needs. It sucks too, I have so much Craftsman gear, it’s comical. Luckily, most of it’s from the late-80’s and early-90’s, so the quality is there. My best Craftsman tools are the ones from the 1970’s that my dad gave to me. Anything marked with a “-v-” is top-notch.
