P1382

I noticed that when I was driving. I didn’t engage the clutch correctly and the CEL came on with P1382. I was wondering if it has to do with the crankshaft position sensor or does it have to do with the dizzy. People are telling me too different things.

I’m not sure what the “dizzy”is, but p1382 typically has to do with a sensor in the distributor. Since I don’t know what year, or model the car is, I am going to assume it has a “points” ignition. Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just pull your distributor cap, check for any corrosion on the points or rotor. Also make sure there is no sign of rust or moisture in the cap. As long as everything looks fine, I would just clear the code and not worry about it. If it comes back get your distributor checked.

p1382- cylinder position sensor no signal.
check the wiring to the sensor.if the sensor is found
faulty.The entire distributor would need to be replaced
with a Honda OE distributor.The cyp lives in the distributor.

Not sure if I missed the year, make, and model but I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s a Honda with a manual trans. That said depending on the year some of those sensors are located in the distributor, if you have an aftermarket distributor replace it with an OE unit as the aftermarket units are nothing but trouble. If it’s a later model the sensor may be located behind the lower timing cover on the crank. If that’s the case and you did a timing belt recently the wiring may be damaged or the sensor may not have been installed correctly. Lastly since it’s a manual trans.

Yeah, it’s my little Honda. :P. I’ve reset the ECU on the car to clear the code. I have drove the car a good 150 miles since that light came on. It hasn’t came on any more since then. Is it safe to say that it won’t again? It would come on again, if it was really broke when I first started the car after clearing the code, eh?

I wouldn’t worry about it unless the code comes back. Just make sure your points and stuff are clean. Next time you post something try to remember to put the year, make, model, engine and trans type cause sometimes this can aid in trouble shooting.
