October 27, 2012 at 4:37 am #472099The code is for a camshaft position sensor. It could be a sensor issue or there could be an issue with the mechanical timing of the engine. Do you have any performance issues?
October 27, 2012 at 8:03 am #472132NO performance issue that I have noticed except I though that about a minute before the MIL light came on the vehicle did not respond to the gas being pressed down, but this was very brief and i was going up hill so its hard to say what was going on
. The light actually went off after 3 more trips by itself. My GM manual says this code is for the Ignition control module. ?? What are your thoughts on this issue should I be concerned that the light came on and off.
October 27, 2012 at 11:30 am #472146The TDC sensor is built into the distributor. Typically this means that you need a new distributor with my experience, but I would go about testing it first before you condemn it. Here are a few pages out of the manual. http://www.b18c5eg.com/EK11-172.jpg http://www.b18c5eg.com/EK11-173.jpg

check the wiring harness for short.check the ignition control
module. replace if faulty.October 31, 2012 at 12:59 am #472858If the light came on it stored a code even if it went off again. I’m sure there’s a test for that control module and to be honest in my experience they’ve been a problem in the past. The idea is to check the ignition input to the coils but the best way to do this is with a lab scope and I’m pretty sure you don’t have one of those. I hate to say this but you might want to try one of those modules to see if that repairs the problem.
