      Hello,
P0700 code on Saturn ion 2006 coupe with 76K miles
So I was siting in the parking lot with my car on Park and engine running. I noticed the check engine light flashed once and only once.
5 minutes later, I was on the traffic light with my transmission on Neutral, the check engine when back on, the traffic light turn green, so I shifted to Drive and the car jumped!! the transmission when crazy on me and not shifting.
drove less than a mile to my place. Scanned the code turns out to be P0700 — Transaxle Control System Malfunction
erased the code, drove it around the block with no problem.

my question is: could it be a transmission fluid? I did not change it since I bought the car from the dealer. the manual says it need to be changed every 100K miles. I checked it last August and it was clean and in good condition.

Can it be something major? can I drive it? its my only car and I need to workout 😛

P0700 on its own with no other codes does not usually mean a problem exists in the transmission, but rather a sensor from somewhere else on the vehicle that resulted in the transmission computer reporting an error to the engine computer. I have seen TPS and evap controls cause this, as well as sticking or malfunctioning trans solenoids. First, check that there are no other stored or pending codes. Next, test/clean the TPS, make sure it is set properly. Then, test/clean transmission shift and lockup solenoids. The code is set when the transmission computer is unable to complete an operation due to bad or missing data (when no other trouble codes are present).

          thanks for the quick reply.

Alright, 15 minutes before this code show up. I replaced the cabin air filter. Now I know the cabin air filter has nothing to do with the transmission, but could a sensor in the a/c cause the TSP code go on?

I never say never, but it is incredibly unlikely.
