Someone asked me to check out why their car wasnt starting. 2 other mechanics replaced the starter , was told she needs an Ignition switch and battery. All of the old components actually work without an issue as they were just sitting in her trunk and the new ignition switch is just sitting in its box in the front seat.
Engine has an immobilizer key code (P0513) And I’m willing to bet The owners no start issue is due to this code and her key being badly damaged and held together with duct tape.
Ran my own breif tests to make sure the switch gets its 12v to the relay when in run, and manually jumping relay- starter cranks but doesnt start vehicle. Theres a module controlled crank signal to the relay as well which is not sending its signal when keys in run position. No voltage drop issues that im aware of
I’ve never worked on a Chrysler nor have experience with this code but a Google search says that it needs to go to a dealer ..so can someone give me the absolute run down on what needs to be done so i can communicate the proper solution to her?
