Ok. I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty with a 3.7l v6 that has about 113,000 miles on it. The other day I was driving the interstate and it started to shake really bad. I pulled off to the side of the road to see what was wrong. I put it in park and the shaking went away. As soon as I go to take off again, mind we are on the interstate, it begins shaking again. I pull over imediatally and shut the engine off to see what the problem is. Im thinking tranny. Well I turn the key over to the start position 3 times to pull the codes. But it ran perfectly after that. I got a P0300 and a P0301. I got these codes right after I changed the spark plugs. but i cleared them and they hadnt come back til now. Do you think that if I pull the ignition coil and switch it with another it will tell me if the coil is bad? What do you think that I should do?

The best way to test a crank sensor is with a lab scope as they can capture any glitches.

Did you ever check the leads like ScannerDanner suggested? Sometimes there’s a tendency to overcomplicate things. Most performance issues have simple solutions. Don’t forget to check the easy stuff.

            ok sooooo update!!!!!
Problem still persists but ive narrowed it down to what I believe to be only a few things. Ive never messed with the fuel injector for cylinder #1. Im gonna swap it to the cylinder #3 which would be the same side but the middle cylinder.
I also ran into something weird. While coasting downhill (foot not on throttle) i experience a blinking engine light. but as soon as i got to the bottom of the hill and gave it more throttle it seemed to be fine. I never felt any unnecessary vibrations or anything. The codes are still just a p0300 and p0301. I think im gonna see if any of the belt pulleys or the belt could be causing the random misfire. Im also gonna pay to have it professionally diagnosed. Apparently I cant find the problem. 🙁

Careful swapping those injectors. If they have been in there awhile you can damage the “o” rings

Thanks I could have done some accidental damage.

Swapping the injectors will confirm that they’re okay provided that u swap it to another cylinder that has a good injector in it! I’d suggest going to the other side of the engine just to rule out the potential for debris in the rail being the issue and clouding that swap test! In my opinion though the fact that it started to blink after coasting downhill off throttle which is a lower fuel requirement would make me suspect injectors last! That normally points more towards a valve or valve train issue! If u google jeep liberty valve tsb you should be able to get a dozens of hits! I’d suggest a tech familair with jeep or strong in diagnostics and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take a copy of the tsb with u for them to consider!
