So, the first code means I’m running lean. The second is a honda code: Electrical Load Detector Circuit Low Input
and I cant quite find what it means. I’ve found that it happens on OBD1- which isnt right, my cars an OBD2.

I’m wondering if theres an issue with my MAP sensor. I recently did an intake manifold swap to a 6th gen accord manifold on my 97 accord- its a relatively common swap that provides more HP and doesn’t do any damage. But I’m wondering if I could just have a leak or an issue with that?

I’ve also had discussions on the IAR Valve. Most say to plug it. Would that affect the fuel mixture?

BTW that surging issue I had that some of you may have seen has been fixed from the manifold swap. I cleaned off the IAC and put a clean manifold in. Idling and surging issues went away.

Oh nevermind. CEL came back on. Same codes. But the idle timing is back to 15 degrees so thats a plus.
Can the two codes be related? Something in the electrical system is also causing the engine to run lean? Although my fuel consumption hasnt changed with the p0171…
        Fuel injectors?

Do you have access to a scan tool to show PID data or even a smoke machine?

I have a tool that sees what the ECU sees basically. What should I be looking out for?

I couldnt find any vacuum leaks. I read that a disconnected ground can cause an ELD. Ill check for that. I think I can pinpoint one that may be an issue.

You can’t just check the timing without following the procedure, I would leave timing out of your diagnosis anyway as it’s not common for ignition timing to go out and when it does it’s normally the result of a loose or out of time timing belt. I’m still not sold on your intake especially since you’ve said you’ve had a problem with fasteners loosening up, a loose intake could cause a vacuum leak. Were you still able to attach the lower support to the bottom of the intake? If not this can cause it to come loose as you describe.

I find a lot of the issues are user error. I just gotta retrace my steps then. So the support I think may make a difference.

I did see that video a while go… made me wanna buy a timing gun but I havent gotten around to it. What I’m seeing is “timing advance” I think. I gotta look up more info on the difference. But its through what the computer sees on the gauge and its a little tricky cuz the cars a 97. I think it has a mix of OBD1 and 2 from what Ive understood- including the distributor. Right? But Ill ignore that for now.

I just put the bracket on the manifold. I tried tightening the bolts under the intake then and they were as tight as I could get them without risking stripping the head. Theres also a nipple by the first intake runner. I had attached a vacuum to that but plugged it now. Perhaps thats the source of the leak- Ill see what both those things do.
Now to wait for the CEL…
