      I have a 99 Nissan maxima with this code. I’m not sure how to fix it do I just buy a new sensor and where is the sensor?

        most likly that is your problem but you should move this into the repair thread right now your in the how to section just fyi oh im not sure where the sensor is if its bank one that is the one where the number one cylinder is sensor 1 is pre cat sensor 2 is after the cat good luck i hope this helps

          9 times out of 10 it’s the heater element inside the sensor that burns out. You can check for power on the heater circuit, it’s always a pink wire at the O2 sensor connector. Recheck the code and see what sensor it is, there are multiple that are in the exhaust. Sensor 1 is always in front of the catylatic converter and 2 is after the cat. If you have a V6 there may be more than 2. Bank 1 and Bank 2. Bank 1 is the bank where the cylinder is closest to the front of the engine.

            Just checked the code myself and it’s Bank 1 sensor 2. So if you have a 4 cylinder it’s the one behind the catylatic converter, if you have a V6 with a cat on both banks it’ll be behind the converter on the bank 1 side, a lot of V6 have a crossover pipe with one cat, so it’ll again be the one behind the cat.
