Hi there ! I have a 2009 Nissan Versa 1.8L SL. I have two codes on my car, P1148 and P0031. I know they are both related with the upstream O2 sensor. I know I have an exhaust leak somewhere, could it cause the codes or it’s the O2 sensor that’s dead ?

      Thanks !

If you have an exhaust leak before the sensor it can cause issues.

If I remember correctly, the sensor in question is on the exhaust manifold. So the leak must be from the manifold gasket or the manifold itself. I will need to check but I’m pretty sure the leak is from after the manifold. I must address the leak issue before changing the O2 sensor ?

you can try replacing the O2 sensor but if you have a leak in the system you might be wasting your money on the O2 sensor tho

Take a look at the error code cause, suggest more of a sensor heater circuit problem. The sensor itself or circuit could be at fault.
Disconnect sensor from circuit and measure sensor heater resistance if normal then check circuit/ wiring/ECM etc.
