To check for a head gasket issue, you would need to do a block test.

However, i would make sure your cooling fans or fan clutch is working as intended.

I would try bleeding your cooling system very first. It’s free. You can buy the spill free funnel in the video for $20, but you don’t have to have it. Ignore the part about the bleeder valve in the video I’m posting, because you probably don’t have one. I wouldn’t be surprised if this doesn’t fix alot of your issues.

              Good luck.

You can check with some parts stores in the area to see if they rent the tool out.

Are you saying that it only overheats at idle and NOT when driving it around? If that’s the case I’d say it’s not a headgasket, probably a fan issue.

First do the checks in the overheat video especially the ones where you check the cooling fan operation and for air in the cooling system.
