Eric my 2005 Jeep Liberty has been overheating for several months specifically when I’m in really slow moving traffic. When the car idles while in traffic the needle gauger starts moving towards the H but if I start to accelerate once traffic begins moving steadily the needle begins to go down(though I typically just pull over and wait for the car to cool and traffic to pick up again.

        Check your cooling fan.

+ 1 on making sure the cooling fan is working properly.

Sounds like you have air in the system. Has it been properly bled. What is the level on the coolant when you open the cap?

A+ on checking the cooling fan works. also check the coolant level.needs to be
full and free of air. check to see that you have no blockage in front of the radiator.
also inspect your radiator cap for rust. heres a video to help you check the coolant
level.check to see that the fan shroud is not missing

I would agree that it sounds like an airflow problem but it could also be air in the cooling system as suggested and would be the first place that I would start. I also cover cooling fan operation in this video as well as other possible causes of an overheat.
