my 1998 honda accord lx sedan v6 automatic overheats while sitting in traffic. When i put it in ‘NEUTRAL’ and press the gas pedal the temperature gauge goes back to normal operating temperature. When this happens the reservoir is fulled with coolant and radiator is empty, and my fans works fine. Water pump and radiator was replaced about 3 months ago. Advise anyone please!!!

If your mechanic determined you have a cracked head….
In most cases it is replaced, not repaired.
Though there are exceptions to every rule.

The question you need to ask yourself…
Is this 19 year old vehicle with 195,875 worth ~$1000.00 investment ?.

        Only you can answer that.

If it were me, the car would need to be in really good shape to warrant that investment.
You also need to look past the immediate…..
Will it need in the near future:
        Brakes
        Exhaust
        Tires
        Suspension

These are things to consider along with the repair costs.

good point, would pouring some “blue devil or k-sealant” buy me 2 months or so?

Personally i never recommend using any of the quick fix additives but if you going to junk it in a couple of months then its worth a shot.

Additives like those allot of the time can do more harm then good.

              Agreed …
If the damage is as bad as you say, chances are better than even money that it will do little to help.

Yeah I don’t think I want to fix it, I’ve put enough money into it already. So I’m just gon ride it to the ground til it’s done

But before I go down this path can anyone tell me this, the temperature gauge rises as I’m driving when I take my foot or the gas pedal it goes down. To get around (only 2 miles to&from work) without it overheating I have to remove the radiator cap.
                  Any thoughts??

                    Going by what you stated..
My thought is you may well be pumping combustion gases into the cooling system and in so doing, building up pressure and air with in the cooling system.
Releasing the radiator cap is giving the combustion gases somewhere to vent.

I bet if you look in the coolant tank you will see lots of tine little bubbles and it smells like burnt fuel.

All right when I do pour the sealant into it will that be okay? I’m wondering if I’ll be able to drive the car with the radiator cap on.

                          No, you won’t be.

The sealant will do very little to prolong the life of your car. Moreover, it might make it worse insofar as it will give you a false sense of security.
