my 1998 honda accord lx sedan v6 automatic overheats while sitting in traffic. When i put it in ‘NEUTRAL’ and press the gas pedal the temperature gauge goes back to normal operating temperature. When this happens the reservoir is fulled with coolant and radiator is empty, and my fans works fine. Water pump and radiator was replaced about 3 months ago. Advise anyone please!!!

If you are looking into the top of the rad and not seeing coolant, it tells me that either you are low on coolant or the thermostat is stuck closed.

This would be a good time to check under the car for coolant leaks.

Im thinking the thermostat is acting up I would personally me I would replace it…. and not risk it… even if its acting good at the time me I wouldnt risk it…. I always replace the thermistate when replacing water pumps and ratators… if either one is bad… the thermistat will be failing soo anyways…. I would do a coolent flush and and see if you have a clog in the system…. because I think you might have a clog somewhere….
I would rec not buying the cheap thermistat get a good one

It use to leak coolant through the main pulley/water pump, but that lasted for a couple of days then it stopped. Now there`s no leaks at all, the only liquid form that falls from underneath the car is from air conditioner. and the radiator always push the same amount of coolant that i put in back into the reservoir.

Has the system been properly bled?

I not exactly sure on how to bleed the v6 model, there are`nt any bleeding screws except for the drain plug

Same method applies with or with out a bleeder screw.

Replace the rad cap and fill the rad. Your rad should always be full. The overflow will with receive or give antifreeze depending on expansion and retraction

Burping …. Bleeding, same to same.

i`ve done a coolant flush, pressure test it and holds pressure. let the car run without the radiator cap little to no bubbles camed out. The one problem i found was that coolant was`nt circulating fast enough, though i am not sure why. and to my surprise there`s no ‘thermostat 🙁 ‘

little to no bubbles.. there should be no bubbles at all
No thermostat, low circulation and overheating …..
Might be looking at a faulty water pump or a blockage in the cooling system.

yes bubbles from bleeding the cooling system. But the car still overheats when sitting in traffic, but now the radiator sucks the coolant back from the reservoir after the car has cool off. It was`nt doing that before, i would have to remove the reservoir and poor the coolant back into the radiator.
I will into the water pump, cause i had someone changed it awhile back but im not so sure he placed a compatible one in, thanks!!
