I looked today and noticed there is not one clamp on the radiator over flow hoses. Ill be getting some tomarrow. Will keep yall posted thanks.
March 8, 2012 at 11:00 am #451434And I checked the overflow. I could see water spots (Wear water had been in there)

I wouldn’t run the vehicle too long with the over flow hose ‘sealed off’ seeing as liquids expand when heated…
That’s true, but I would think that if too much pressure builds up (15psi?) the cap will just vent it. Wouldn’t want to have my hand (or anything else) near it when it happens though.
March 9, 2012 at 11:00 am #451436I think I covered something like this in a video that I did, perhaps it will help.

Exactly. It would make me too nervous. I am all for safety now, even more so after back surgery. Your mindset changes alot.
March 9, 2012 at 11:00 am #451438There no way this can be a head gasket.
How could i fill the radiator then the overflow and then the overlfow be dry within 50miles but never lose a drop after that for 1500miles.I checked to night and did have a little in the overflow. Ill get the clams tomarrow.
March 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #451439Did you ever use a block tester?
March 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #451440Yes i did dream (Good sir – friend of mine) It came back clean!!!
March 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #451441^How about a simple check to see what the ratio of coolant/anti-freeze to water is? Maybe too much water = quicker loss?
Otherwise, you could always get a $25 Used Oil Analysis and they will be able to let you know if coolant is getting into the oil(even if small amounts).
March 12, 2012 at 11:00 am #451442How about see if theres a small hole in the overflow? It wouldn’t be the first time.
March 13, 2012 at 11:00 am #451443ILL try that eric!!!
I changed the spark plugs to day. They wear all white expt two they wear white with kinda a copper brown tent. I think it was caused by the plug wires.
The wires kinda feel apart as a changed them. I put some durlast wires and Bosch plugs in her. Started her up and she sounded much better!I changed all plugs. Bosch supper copper!
I changed the cap and rotor to msd.
I used msd wires as well.March 14, 2012 at 11:00 am #451444Personally I think you would have been better off with Motorcraft plugs but that’s just me. I suspect the ‘white crust’ is an indication of burning oil which would be common for a high mileage engine.
March 14, 2012 at 11:00 am #451445The 2 spark plugs with the “cooper brown” tint… are they from adjacent cylinders? Is the copper brown tint rust color?
If your coolant looks good, you may still have rust in the block that would show up if the head gasket leaked. Given the age of the engine, there may be plenty of rust near the bottom of the waterjackets if someone was unwilling to perform the regular maintenance on the cooling system.March 15, 2012 at 11:00 am #451446Found!!!
So im driving to work today! I hit the little washer for the windows and guess what comes shooting out all over my windows! GUESS.FLIPING ANTI FREEZE.
I interstage the issue and found anti freeze all in the wiper blade motor housing area.
The reservoir for the anti freeze and window wash fluid are made together the wall that separates the two cracked and the anti freeze was going into the window wash bay.
Screed me at first bc i thought window fluid could be in my radiator but iv always use straight water so im safe.
OMG.
March 16, 2012 at 11:00 am #451447^Ha, Eric called it, but it turned out to be somewhat bizarre as well as simple, how ironic.
…and the irony of using water in the windshield washer fluid reservoir actually saves your cooling system any strain from surfactants in the new ‘ratio’.
Well, update on consumption post fix anyway.
