      1999 f250 6.8 V10 automatic
      I know I’m going to be replacing the spark plugs on this truck so I was washing away some of the dirt from the front of the engine compartment. I tried not to get water on the engine itself but I guess I must have got some on it. :huh: Now I’ve got a misfire/stutter. Mostly on acceleration not too bad at idle.

      I hoped it would clear up by itself but I’ve driven it for a day and it still has the miss.

      I’m guessing it’s an ignition related problem so I thought I’d do the “power drop test”, remove one of the connectors to the ‘coil over plug’ packs at a time and see which one isn’t working, but it’s not all that easy to get to them, especially the rear ones. Does anyone have any good ideas as to what I should try? 🙁

        Well, it appears I just need to ask the question in this forum and things will fix themselves!! 😆
        I took the truck out for another test drive today and guess what? no missing no hesitation nothing… like brand new again.

        I’d just like to thank the elves that came and fixed my truck last night! :woohoo:

        I suspect there is still something not 100%, but when I change the spark plugs I may find it… dirt or ??

        Anyway, right now I’m a happy man.

            You probably had water in a spark plug tube and finally evaporated.

            If you havn’t done modular engine “4.6 5.4 6.8” spark plugs let me give you some tips. Those engines are notorious for blowing spark plugs out. When you change them, remove the coils from the plugs. If you lose a coil screw it likely went down a plug tube or surrounding it, so be sure to have a thin magnet handy. A coil screw on top of a piston will destroy the engine in about 10 seconds. Use compressed air and thoroughly blow out all the plug tubes and all around them.

            Lightly oil the threads of the new plugs with engine oil. I recommend you tighten them using a torque wrench. Too bad i don’t remember the spec.

              Thanks for the tips… I plan to be very careful but I think the hardest part is going to be getting at the rear plugs, so I’ll try to get some practice with the front ones first!

              The service manual I have says the spark plugs should be torqued to 8-12 Nm or 71-106 Lb/In

                Yeah..the rear plugs are no fun. Just take your time and you will be fine.
