Oil stop leak??

mkay, my wife calls me at work and says the oil light is blinking on the Odyssey wagon, 1999 model.

I say don’t worry, just go to O’Reillys and buy two quarts of oil. She does so and I check the oil when I get home and it’s jut barely touching the bottom of the dipstick! After adding 2 quarts! Yipes.

Now it’s been really cold so I have not checked the oil level for a couple of months.

And it seems to be dripping a bit of oil onto the garage floor.

So I’m not going to go looking for the oil leak for at least another month.

Are any of those “oil stop leak” products any good? Could I pour $4.99 of some red solvent or rubber sweller into the oil and get any useful result out of it, like, no or less of an oil leak? I don’t like crawling under cars this time of year.

I don’t recommend a mechanic in a can. For now you could try
some high mileage oil with seal conditioners until the leak
        can be fixed.

I also do not recommend that you attempt to use stop leak to fix that problem. It may end up causing more problems. Keep the oil topped off till it gets warmer and then see if you can find the source of the leak. Once you’ve done that, repair it, and then see if there are any other leaks to deal with.

          This might also be helpful.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes i have used them before on my cars it worked perfectly on one but not on the other 2 cars with leaks. One was a big leak and other was on a gasket so it wouldn’t seal them as it just swells rubber seals back to seal them. If the leak is a big or high pressure leak its probably best to change or keep topping up.
