In addition to a few other issues I’ve posted on here –

      On a 1996 Lexus ES300 I have what I think is a pinhole in my cooling system/coolant hoses…

And as a preface – I bought this car just recently and I am heading toward fixing it up. So I have numerous little issues I am trying to figure out.

Another issue I am having is a light on the instrument cluster that is quite concerning. It is shaped like a oil spout and wave shape underneath and orange in color. The same color orange as the Check
Engine Light which has me concerned as it is right next to the Check Engine Light. The oil level is right to the mark where it should because I check it often along with other fluids. So with or without this sensor I know where my oil level is. The oil has recently been changed so we are dealing with oil in good condition and up to level. While changing the o2 sensor on the backside of the block, I noticed a sensor bolted into the oil pan. This same sensor has wires coming from an attached harness that have all been clipped off.
This is obviously the oil level sensor and someone has opted to clip the wires. I have trouble figuring why anyone would clip the connections to the oil level sensor?
My guess is the Oil Level Sensor Indicator light came on and they figured by clipping these wires the light would go off. I will get this fixed to get rid of some of the hack-work I have found about the car.
My main concern is that once I reconnect the harness and secure connections, what if the light is still on? Can there be a problem with the oil pump or is there another sensor I should be looking for?

Any help offered is much appreciated!!!

its the oil level sensor.if you hook up the wires
and the light is still on.The sensor is likely bad.
if its two wires.jump them together see if the light
goes out.this will tell you that the circuit does work.

Ill double check, but I think it is four wires. So all I would do is attach jumpers to each wire – then jump them together (on the ECM end) and the light should go out?
