I’m not really sure if I should concerned about this or not. My 1996 Chevy k1500 with a 350 vortec has 240,000 miles. When it cold 25degrees or less it sounds like the top end isn’t getting oil or it sounds like a diesal untill it heats up to about 100 degrees F. I’ve thought about switching from 5w30 in the winter to 0w30 or something like that or adding a oil additive to it and see if it still does it. It’s done it for a long time. The oil I’m running is valvoline comventional nothing really special. I’ve also thought about high mileage oil although I’ve heard some bad things about the high mileage. It doesn’t seem to burn oil and it’s full of oil. Oil pressure is good. It goes through about half a quart of oil in 3000 miles but it does leak and I’m not getting blue smoke. It’s also got plenty of power. Any ideas?
