Oil cap stuck on.

I can’t get my oil cap off. I’ve tried it both with the engine hot and cold. I’m tempted to whack it with something, but it’s made partially of plastic. Part of the problem is I don’t have enough room around it to get a good grip. Any advice on how to get it off?

Oil filter wrench (rubber or metal), pipe wrench, or anything solid plastic with an end to it with a hammer to tap at it on an angle. Hammer and chisel/punch with a rag or two inbetween using the same method. Those are about all I got. 😉

Maybe post a pic of what you’re working with for a few ideas…

That’s a tough one. The above suggestions are great but you might want to either purchase or be ready to purchase a cap before you’re done. You may end up breaking it in the process of removal. This might also be helpful.
