So my ’01 Accord had a seized lug nut which resulted in a snapped lug bolt. Now, I’m in for a new hub and what the heck, a new bearing. The Honda OE parts are over $200 while the Dorman & Timken “equivalent” are around $50. If these were suspension parts, hands down I’d go with the OE. But a wheel hub on a 15 yo Accord? Not so sure. Opinions?
I don’t have air tools at my disposal and am assuming-we know how that goes- a slide hammer is the best route to take for hub removal. Will the slide hammer process put unnecessary and damaging stress on the ball joints? Also, my local AZ has a bearing press tool kit, which from what I’ve seen on Utube is reasonably effective on removal and fitting of the new bearing. Experience welcomed!
