!!!!YES MY CAR HAS OBDII….YES IT’S A 1994…..YES I AM AWARE THAT CAN BE CONTROVERSIAL…..PLEASE DONT ARGUE ABOUT WETHER OR NOT MY CAR REALLY HAS OBDII ON HERE BECAUSE I HAVE USED THE RECTANGULAR DTC MULTIPLE TIMES TO GATHER INFORMATION SUCH AS MISFIRES AND INSUFFICIENT EGR FLOW AS WELL AS THIS CODE…..I ALSO HAVE THE ROUND DTC LINK BUT I NEVER USE IT SINCE MY CAR HAS OBDII!!!!

I have a 1994 Toyota Camry LE with a V6 3.0L, the exact type of engine is a 1mz-fe. I have had problems with this car running for awhile. Recently I have done work to it such as replaced the spark plugs, the coil BOOTS (NOT THE WHOLE COIL BECAUSE I WAS ON A BUDGET), fuel filter, air filter, change oil on a regular basis, new fuses, new battery, new exhaust pipe going from exhaust manifold’s to converter, new tires, new inner and outer tie rods as well as the boots on them, new valve cover gaskets, new spark plug well seals/gaskets whatever you wanna call them, new radio (I put this in because when I rewired it to get a better signal I ended up missing a spot with electrical tape and when I plugged it in it sparked on me causing the dome light fuse to go out)., countless other things.

Awhile back my car had a huge misfire and on the way to work the cel started blinking so I turned around and headed back home (I was a block away). My uncle is a mechanic and has been doing this for several years, going on almost 40 I believe. We scanned the codes and it turned out to be a misfire on cylinders 1 3 and 5. We thought those cylinders were on the bank closest to the radiator. When we switched them the problem went away.

Now this is the main issue I am having, car has a P1300 code (Igniter Circuit Malfunction No. 1). The only place that was really helpful to me was my local mechanic shop MIDAS. The car turns on but as soon as it gets to operating temperature its stumbles and shuts down. There is also an intermittent misfire on several cylinders although there is no code that show even a random misfire. I am also losing lots of coolant.

        1. At the igniter, monitor the IGT signals. They should be constant 5 volt square wave signals.

        2. Monitor the IGF signal. IGF should be a consistent 5 volt sawtooth pattern.

        3. Monitor the coil trigger signals from the igniter.

        4. Clear the codes and see if the same code comes back or if a single cylinder misfire code may set, leading to the faulty coil.

        5. Check the crank position sensor signal for a good A/C waveform.
Tech Tips: It is possible for a faulty coil to cause this code. If the igniter does not think that the coil has triggered spark, it will set a code P1300 and stop signal on the IGF terminal.
