      Hello
i am working on a 05 Chevy Malibu classic with a 3.6 L . the CEL is on… i went to Auto Zone the other day because i was out. they plugged in there scan tool and all it got was a ERROR message.. so when i got home i plugged in my scan tool and nothing…. well one thing the TC light turned on but can cant get any feed back.. i have seen that there was some post about the lighter fuse can cause problems i checked that and it is fine i also check the pins for power and everything looks ok.. also was told try to change out the ignition switch i guess that can cause some problems.. just want to see if any other person had this problem or if anyone has any ideas on what is going on… thanks

so basically what you are saying is their scan tool only said ERROR, it didn’t give a code?

Kinda of…. there getting an error code. I am getting nothing.. no engine info at all like it is not talking to the computer.. one other thing I don’t under stand is that when I connect my scan tool and active it I get no response at all.. all it will do is turn on the TC light… and yes I tryed the scan tool in my other cars and it works fine

sorry for the delayed reply, life has been very busy, may be a computer issue or even a electrical issue, i would have the PCM checked and all wires going to it, check for corrosion and the whole nine yards.

Does the car start? Sounds like it does. If it starts, your ignition switch is fine. Power is going to the computer.
