Maybe there’s already a video on this topic you can point me to, but as a DIYer just learning how to do some basic repairs, fasteners are my enemy. I know with decades of experience Eric seems to instantly know what type of wrench and what size socket anything on the car requires. But today I was detaching the airbox from my car when I found a fastener that required a 1/4″ socket (this took me a lot of tries and using a lot of different metric sockets before I discovered that it was US inches). The fasteners on my washer fluid reservoir were 10mm all around. I think a lot of my fear of taking stuff out of my car is that I’m worried there are so many different types and sizes of fasteners I won’t be able to put it back together correctly.
If it doesn’t already exist, I think a video about identifying different types of fasteners, their uses, and finding the right tool to undo/redo them would be super helpful. Also some tips about when to use different sprays (rust penetrating, silicone) on parts and their fasteners. Maybe also some tips about how you remember which fasteners go where (I don’t want to accidentally use the wrong type/size in the wrong hole and strip some metal or create a loose fit that makes a leak).
Thanks!
