nuetral switch

I haven’t been here in a while it seems every day life has a way of doing that. If anyone would help me I have an 87 ford f 150 4.9 engine with the c-6 transmission. Where is the neutral safety located ? and how do you adjust it ? I think I have an idea but I’d like to get another opinion. I’m 66 and can still climb under them but no where like I used to. My mind says yes my body says no. Thank you

It should be located on the driver’s side of the transmission near the bottom. There should be two screws holding it on and the switch should have a pigtail wire lead extending from it.

The holes in the switch should be slightly slotted to allow a little adjustment. It should look like this. It’s also possible if you have problems with starting the switch could be going bad.

Thank You for the reply it is very helpful. The last time I adjusted a neutral safety switch it was located below the steering column. I live in Louisville,ky when the temps get out of the 20’s i’ll try to adjust it. Thanks again
