Now that I have the P/S pump quiet (finally)….the other noise is driving me nuts.
When cold in the morning, startup is fine..quiet as a sewing machine.
Under light load (barely on the throttle) I hear what sounds like marbles in a can – very mechanical sound, Varies with rpm. Not detonation (like my 83 for Ranger which was detonating). I eliminated the pullys as the culprit by spinning all with belt off when chasing this P/S issue. The timing belt and tensioner were replaced. So I am looking elsewhere.
Aside from adjusting the valves to rule that out, what else is it?
The Variable Timing actuator? How to you isolate that one?
I run semi 5w20 and change it at 5000. 100,000K miles now. 1st owner.
