I have a 2001 chevy 2500hd 8.1L with the allison trans it has 230k mi on it and had an injector going bad so i went ahead and replaced them all. While I was at it I took the intake manifold off and cleaned it really good since this year has an EGR (it was nasty) anyways got it all put back together and went to start it up and acted like the battery was dead starter clicked but that was it put the charger on it and got it charged put it on start mode to give it a little extra got a little bit of a crank but then right back to clicking let it charge slow over night came back in the morning same thing ripped the battery out took it to the parts store it tested bad thought good drop new one in and done well same problem little bit of a crank then clicking.

i pulled the spark plugs and it will crank as long as i hold the key ( put new ones in along with wires)

pulled a wire and checked for spark no spark to the plug

pulled the wire off of the coil and there is no spark there either

i have checked over everything that i had pulled apart and everything is back where it needs to be and is all secure and not pinched or twisted

i have tried to reset the ECU YOUTUBE said to pull positive for like 20sec did that a few times i happen to have a jet DTS which had a file from when i changed my tire size a while back so i reflashed the ECU hoping that there would be something locking the system up and it would get cleared still same problem no spark to coil pack

      any ideas would be appreciated

ok when you turn the engione do you see the tac moving while you turn it??? could be a bad crank or cam sensor… you can see if it pulls up any codes but dout it but u can try…. did you try it on all plug wires or just one… could be a bad coil… I dont know if you have only 1 coil or does each plug have its own coil

Check to be sure all plugs are where they should be. Also make sure any grounds removed are all reconnected. You won’t get any codes since your battery was disconnected. Recheck all your work and we will go from there

The engine won’t crank enough to register anything literally watched it move the belt less than an inch when it does try to crank. Have a hard time believing it would be a sensor it drive itself into the barn to get the work done so was just fine before changing the injectors and cleaning the intake manifold. The only things got got unplugged were the injectors and coil packs and I have out a test light to the coil packs itself and it does not light up

if your belt moves a little bit and will not fully turn …it means that the starter is haviveing problems turning the engine.,,, you will need to hand crank the engine… you should be able to hand crank it… if you can not turn the engine by hand then take the serpantine belt off and try again… if you still cannot you will probly have something seized in the engine… and will need to explore that more
but if you where able to hand crank the engine try hot wireing the starter

Just an FYI so you know… the coils are not going to spark untill the computer gets data from the crank sensor and the crank sensor will not give any data untill the engine cranks…. so basiclly you will not get any spank if your engine isnt cranking over… then you can check for spark… untill your engine start turning you will never get a spark….
another thing I thought if is did you mess with the distribitor at all because if that is stuck your engine would have hard time turning

Any chance cylinders may have been filled with fluid causing a hydrolock? Remove the plugs and try turning it over

k so if i pulled the plugs out and cranked it over since it will crank over with out them in would i be able to check for spark at the coil then no distributor got the 8 coil packs

Yes. If each coil pack has 2 plug wires just plug in 2 spark plugs and touch the threads to ground as you crank the engine. I believe it’s called a loss spark system or something like that where 2 plugs fire at the same time. Unplug 12 electrical from the other coil packs your not testing
