no start and i know it isnt the battery or alternator, any ideas?

its an 86 oldsmobile cutlass supreme brougham with a 5.0 v8 its a 307. it will not start it cranks over but will not start my guess is either the carburetor or fuel pump but i could be wrong, please hurry i need to get to work soon TT-TT

well my uncle told me to pull out a spark plug and touch it to something metal to see if it was sparking and it didnt spark, also i replaced the ignition coil and still nothing my last 2 options are supposedly the ignition control module and the distributor, any advice?????

You need to figure out if your missing fuel or spark as already suggested.

i have established i have a spark issue i just dont know what to replace =/ already did the ignition coil

if you checked for spark at the coil and no spark. the theres no power to the coil. if you search the free chilton manuals it should assist in the

theres a hole trouble shooting section in the chilton repair side.if theres no spark at the coil then the ignition module is suspect and needs to

thanks everyone =) it was the ignition control module, thankfully it was easy to get to, and i fixed it =) thumbs up to advanced auto parts for having it too lolz

A+ on fuel and spark. if you don’t have a fuel tester. than disconnect the fuel line and put the line in a jar. crank the engine to see if you are pumping
fuel. next check spark. C8-)

heres eric video on no start diagnostics.if you dont have this tester you can remove the coil wire from the cap and hold it close to the cap
while someone cranks the car. be careful with this step. look for spark.

if you put some gas or starting fluid in the carb and it pops or starts and shuts off quickly you know its a fuel issue if nothing happens its probably spark
