hi this is for my mother-in law has a 07 ford Taurus we had to jump start it today but i hooked up the battery backwards i hooked the + to the – so after all that my jumper cables where no good so we called our road side and they came out and jumped it and it started so we let it seat for a little and turned off the car and it did not start so we checked the battery and it was fully charged but there is no lights on like the dome light and no power at all only when we hook up another battery to jump it can some one help us out

Check battery connections. Ensure they are clean and tight.. Also fully charged is 12.6 volts or above… may want to take the battery to a parts store for a free test… it may be bad…

Based on what you have said, I don’t think you did anything to the starter. Many times when jumper cables are hooked up backwards a main fuse blows… since you are not getting certain lights but it still will run when jumped I would think a fuse may have blown somewhere, but not the main power fuse.. Since you had to jump the battery in the first place, I would suspect the battery and connections of also having an issue.
Recommend checking all the fuses and get battery tested if all battery connections are clean and tight.
