I have a 1995 cavalier 2.2 liter ohv the problem I’m having is when I try to start it it makes a whining noise it don’t sound like it’s turning over but if I slightly touch the gas as I’m turning the key it does start and idles rough it seems to get better when it’s warmed up it does need a tune up I hope it’s not the fuel pump can I get some help on this Thanks

It sound like a vacuum leak. All hoses connected to the intake must seal. Otherwise the engine computer gets the air/fuel mixture for starting wrong.
Agree with Barneyb…Also, to add…the intake is plastic on the Cavalier, so the intake gasket(s) are notorious about developing vacuum leaks…
Checking for vacuum leaks as suggested is probably a good idea. Also, if you have any check engine light codes that would also be useful in helping to figure out the problem. More info here.
