I put a recycled vtec engine in my 99 accord. The car starts right up with no problems. I noticed that the emissions coming off the car is rich. When I went to drive the car it stalls out. No Power. At idle, it is smooth, and acceleration is smooth. I can pull out in first but as soon as I accelerate it stalls out.

Are the plugs fouling? Do you have a scanner to read live data?

There is no engine codes or engine service light on. The plugs are new but yes I already checked the plugs.

OK Folks, I’m going to give everyone a good laugh this morning. The problem with the engine stalling is due to plugging in the wrong plugs. My son put this motor in and he finally figured it out. Its always god to stop, sit back and go back to simple basics.

Anyhow, the car started right up and the motor ran great. After taking it down the round it started to pop and slow down really fast, no acceleration. Got an engine code of P1259,= Vtec malfunction. I’m going to check the oil pressure switch, the vtec solenoid, and make sure the it is clean. Any suggests on what to look for or a most common cause? Thanks to everyone for helping me out.

here is some help with p1259. Oil level full? It could also be sledged up due to lack of oil changes.

Honestly it sounds like you have a can of worms there. It’s very difficult to diagnose modified vehicles via the forum. All we can really do is guess. I can say that the only issues I’ve seen with VTEC are using the incorrect oil, or low oil level. The system rarely has an issue outside of the occasional leak. In your case, it could once again be a wiring issue. OR it could be that the ECU you’re using is not correct for the vehicle. Like I said, can of worms.

I wish I could be of more help, but this is about the best I can offer.
