it could also be the torque converter not locking up so first thing you need to do is find out witch it is. so get on a open road and manual shift the car. start in first gain some speed manualy shift to 2nd keep gaining speed then shift to 3rd and finall

Did the grand am’s not have a dip stick for the tranny too or was it just the sunfi

I’m still thinking it’s a 4th gear problem which would have nothing to do with lock up.
