I have done Honda valves adjustment easy stuff. I am looking at the instructions for this 94 sentra 1.6 L And it is talking about shims and things. do you have a video on shims for valve adjustment? how hard of a job is it? I know it requires a few tools i don’t have.

      Thanks

there’s no adjustment to be made on these engines like on the hondas. The shims are for adjusting weakened or new valve springs into spec, but that’s not really for the DIY and should really be done with the head pulled off of the engine.

why are you trying to adjust the valves?

chances are if you’re actually hearing a valvetrain tick out of that engine then it’s a valvetrain component that needs to be replaced.

I don’t believe those valves are serviceable as pointed out. As for the noise, you might find helpful information here on that issue.

seems like if you have that tool then it will allow you to R+R the shims without removing the camshafts and the head to use an old-fashioned valve-spring compressor. If you’re trying to find that tool then here’s a link:

about $400 bucks but still better than taking off the head if you’re dead set on doing this.

personally I didn’t know this tool existed. It might even be easy enough to make if you could get the measurements.
