Im getting a P0448 code and I am sure it is the canister/solenoid anyone know how I can go about checking which part needs to be replaced? there is a EVAP canister, EVAP control system pressure sensor, and an EVAP canister vent control valve. I am thinking its the valve but I don’t exactly know how to check and these parts are rather expensive about 550+ for all of them without labor which I am going to do myself anyway. The car only has 80,000 miles on it which I though it was odd that it went bad this fast. I have heard of this happening but not till 150,000-200,000 mil.

Without the knowledge of how the EVAP system works and have the proper tools and equipment to test it ,it’s tough for the novice to repair the system. Taking it to a professional for repair is probably gonna be cheaper in the long run.

I incorrectly posted the wrong code, I am actually getting a P0455 Nissan – EVAP Control System Gross Leak Detected, and a P0447 2009 Nissan – Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Open

Any help is appreciated and IF its something I don’t feel comfortable with I will take it to my wife’s brother who is a mechanic for Hyundai and formerly Nissan. He is a busy man so I am trying to do it myself. Thanks again!!

First, your approach of ‘what part do I need to replace’ is a flawed one. This approach can get expensive because it usually leads to replacing part after part trying to resolve a problem. A better approach is more logical and calculated and incorporates other possibilities like wiring, connectors, logic failures, or leaks in the system.

That said, I looked up your code and there are no common causes from what I found. There were things from the MAF sensor to a loose gas cap as possible causes. As suggested, you might take it to a professional to be properly diagnosed to avoid problems or making things worse.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Turns out for that code and my wife’s 09 Nissan rogue it was the Evap Charcoal Canister Vent Valve. Thanks for all the help everyone fixed it awhile back but just now replying to my original post.
